Tried to put in the figure looking down but started obsessing over the lighting, distortion, etc, realized that my vision for the figure was way beyond my current technical abilities :-/
Here's the current version....I'm fairly happy with it right now, calling it quits. At least for now.

quite nice mel. the colors are bright, vibrant and exhilarating. the only point i can offer is to perhaps find a way for the sunbeams to overlap the figure and fishies. it kinda seems like the rodeo-naiad was pasted on top of the background right now. i think a highlight or two laid over figures would create a degree of separation between the audience and the action (as if the viewer were wearing a scuba mask or something).
...i recall the bonus interviews on the incredibles dvd recounting animator woes at rendering water. quite a bold foray on your part.
yeah good point. I was trying for a more painterly background with the lights and kelp and forgot to texture the foreground figures....gotta get on that, thanks for noticing it.
