Re: BB

Dave! This is superexciting news, and I'm in complete awe/jealousy of that manly resolve of yours to execute this stuff.
I like the idea of the dk blue on white a lot--it's cleaner and more distinctive than sepia too.
those thumbs look killer. I'm having trouble 'reading' the ones in ink, but i loves the b+w roughs. I was thinking about the femme and a fun design might be the blonde cheongsam clad 40s camel-ad type gal with a bloodred on the lips and the hairpin (weapon?)
I like the idea of overlapping panel elements, so I was thinking for the window panel making the blinds cord into a panel separator, like so's...

Completely charming and glad you seem so ready to take on what seems like it's a big task!

Fake ad huh? I really like that idea. If you'd be amenable, I'd love to give a stab at that area as well in the style of the previous static illo I had on the last one. A cigarette ad a la mucha with an edgier/sexier smidge of Schiele, mayhaps?

it would be FANTASTIC if you'd do a ziggy ad, mel! as far as any art direction: trying to fit it by 8.5x11, and if you wouldn't mind setting it in san francisco somehow (you know, for wondercon and all). maybe a girl getting on a cable car, lighting a smoke? a girl visiting her boyfriend in prison at alcatraz and is sneaking him ciggies? hippies in the park, rockin' a jam? the sky's the limit! have some fun with it!
