two options too many

...was working on layouts when i came across a design dilemma.

1st layout option. the flats (the black and white technical drawings) were traced around the human form as rendered by sig. da vinci. this creates just about a perfect fit on the figure. however, it creates a fair amount of busyness in the background...

here's the second layout option. same info, but with a vectorized figure based on muse rafael nadal. the white background looks cleaner and bit more professional, if a little less interesting.

hmmm....

Ah I must insist on the former--really fills the space well, innovative use of a mannequin, complements the sparse background, and keeps the spirit of sport via the athletic perfection of our vitruvian homeslice. I really enjoy the look of the t-shirt on him best. the rib lines on it are great accents to the nude figure below suggesting the enhancement of natural form vs its concealment.

I do concur that the current shape of the vitruvian bg is a bit much though....what about photoshopping out all but the form of the man himself?
