finally getting to the jacket. here is the version before the epic endeavor of button-holing. sadly, the many attempts failed, and ultimately the jacket had to be left out of the final look. a shame, but pleased with the process.
close up of front pocket welts. these are double double welts (quad welts?) with the blue lining fabric peeking out to say hello. hello.
back view of the jacket. here you can see the raglan style sleeve-extension across the shoulders.
inside view of the jacket. the blue lining proved quite temperamental to work with: its lightness lead to frequent sewing slips, but its transparency allows and interesting x-ray effect looking into the horsehair between the outer and inner layers of the jacket.

the reason for the season! this final suit project was designed to be worn at the wedding of one william fryman to one sharon lai, which occured over this past weekend. bryce and sidd flew up from san diego and crashed at my place for a few nights. then saturday we finally met up with best man benjamen reineman -- of course attended by accompanying reineclan -- and fellow groomsman tobias wacker (coincidentally my roommate at ucla and participant in the same singapore study abroad program will and sharon met on) at the wedding complex in marin. the service and celebration were as beautiful as the couple and naturally many a tear was shed...
...a shot of the service captured thanks to a friend of the bride's facebook...not sure if this is pre- or post-ben-loosing-the-rings-somewhere-in-the-deep-recesses-of-his-pocket. o whatta best man!
quite a reunion (including ben who's behind the camera)! teedo! dave! bryce! sexy squid! it was a blast to see the old faces and catch up a bit. sidd's certainly impressing with the bow-ties and camera-phone pics; and teedo's neck deep in photovoltaic cells and hemp jackets all wrapped up in one big bolo tie! a pleasure knowing such gents.

oh my gracious! So great to see all my favorite people all in one place, and each with their distinctive look :>
Ahhhhh young lurv, tis a many splendored thing, no?
And how could I forget the suit? Such a piece of work! The lining and colors are beautifully, subtly complementary and fit you like a dream
it was a darn good time seeing the boys again, but a shame they scheduled during dragoncon weekend. i was all set to finish boy blue and come down south blowing my horn, but obviously had to switch to tailoring a dress suit instead of a witching cloak. i'll have to get my priorities straightened out by next summer. coincidentally enough, all this was also during the same weekend as burning man -- quite a nexus of awesomeness.
