costume concepts

A couple of concepts sketched out....

1. boy blue (vs. bigby just too difficult unless you naturally look like wolverine) and snow white (thanks, james jean for making her look asian!)

more boy blue images....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bluefables.jpg

I don't know how much they were pushing this, but I really like the idea of the "b" for boy blue as a flag note...
Not sure how easy/hard it would be to borrow a bugle/trumpet, but i think the rest of the outfit would be easy.

For our snow lady, simple elegant reds and whites would go into our design. The apple is a chest cutout with stem accentuated by a high mandarin type collar. High neck with knee length white skirt is typically conservative and ladylike for her character. Carrying a rose to drive home the point, hood evokes the winter portion with red lining nice subtle touch.

Just some thoughts....doesn't have to be all boring trenchcoats hopefully!

Umbrella academy is still cool with me though, those cosstumes are far more recognizable than personal designs, but the creative part is pretty fun IMHO :>

oooh! i like where you went with the fables characters. i didn't even think of boy blue, but yeah, he's much better suited for the cosplay cause! i scouted the net a bit, and the only entries i could find of existing iterations were of girls dressed as boy blue dressed as the black knight (a costume which still features a remarkably high percentage of blue). i like your designs much better and i think they display a high level of personality while still conveying the character. i'm down, and i think the fables route is the one we should take!

your development of snow's outfit was also nicely conceived. i particularly liked the emphasis on conveying the whiteness one would expect from a madame named "snow." and the apple cut-out, tres risque. as far as the nitty-gritty goes, were you thinking of working out the snow white costume from your end, or were you planning on some tailoring from my end?

hmmm good question. It's difficult for me to even gauge how much time would be necessary to invent into making such a garment. I might be able to put something together using skills garnered from the interwebs and friends. Do you think it's executable by a noob such as myself?

if not, is it possible to carry on such a long distance endeavor?

as far as the snow costume goes, the only part that would seem to pose difficulty would be her top blazer. you should be able to find a skirt and pair of pumps to fit yourself quite easily. were you thinking of the hood being attached to the jacket? and is it more of a jacket/blazer or a blouse?

the deviating details really focus around the center-front apple cut-out, the shoulder cut-outs and then the collar/hood connection around the neck. those shouldn't be too tricky -- attaching the red lining pieces is the main effort after cutting away the fabric. it may be easier and provide a more satisfying result if you're able to make those alterations in atlanta. the sewing wouldn't be too tough, but having you physically present for fittings would really help with the final product, and if riki has half the skillz i assume she does, this wouldn't be a very major project. plus, that way you would be able to oversee the process from alpha to omega.

ps. harrison ford was just on charlie rose talking about his new film in which he plays a renegade research scientist who doesn't play by the rules as he rebelliously searches for funding and cures to degenerative diseases. ...i figured that might steam up your safety goggles a bit
