Eep it's been a while since I posted! Been trying to be a little more bold with putting down colors in sketchies, mostly going with an overlaid pencil line and underlying PS color. What say you?

satyr, coffee, notes on how to compose a story from a friend

forestses, likely one of my favorite topics...

wolvy in hasty colour

for Cadmus' warriors I was thinking of spartan women instead of men. Auburn color scheme to imply "earthiness" with harsh green accents to evoke something reptilian (scales, dragon's teeth) and seed-like (new green shoots)

the first inklings of a dragon/seedling (I know, difficult to discern. Working on getting more of your nice heraldic symbolism stuff)

blah blah life drawing. This one was from a a sesh at Studio Gaijin! I got to draw next to Cully Hammer and Brian Stelfreeze! *squeal!*

brush pen

some studies for a "fishbowl" piece I was pursuing for a while

movie still

sunset quicky...

i really like the effect you've created with the pencils over the coloring layers. the colors allow you to explore the environment at a different level of focus: it helps fill out your trees nicely (oh the grueling task that is rendering collective foliage). the lighting created by the colors for the wolvie piece is certainly helping to increase the dramatic tension (i like the little pool of blood under the claws). keep up with the coloring -- might i suggest some surf stoakage? that wave is primed for some wacoming!

i'm quite taken with your suggestion of female spartoi. i'm imagining the central alkemist as a pimped out evil incarnation of charlie's angels x 100. the reptilian angle (heh, angels and angles) is good -- the agents can shed their skin to escape from traps and cells perhaps...

sweet, studio gaijin! did you talk 'em up at all while they were there? hear about any seedy industry gosip? idunno how your schedule's looking, but you should hit them up for a summer internship next time you see them. you could still end up making comicon!

speaking of which, yeah, don't think i'll be making it to con this year :*( i remember checking shortly after wondercon and friday and saturday had already sold out. reeediculous! looks like 2010 then! wow, 2010. next year just blew my mind...

ps. any sweet puerto rico sketches?! several of those pictures y'all took were ripe with arting posibilites

CHEEZY POOFS! i hope that sketch was done live, and amidst the artist's own munchings.
