Hieros x Hackafore

With one foot out the door, I've been tackling some of the projects I had put on the back burner.  Finally getting to that black jacket I've been meaning to sew up!  My roommate Kevin, brought back some amazing printed fabric back from his trip to Japan (like, 2 years ago!) and I finally found the time and project to put it to good use!  The jacket is the J719 Satoshi Special, named in honor of Kevin of course :)

The original flat back when the jacket was named the "1849."  The new name just fits so much better!

The self is a black supplex for water/snowproofing.  Kevin got me two colorways in the fabric -- a gold, and a green.  Still have to figure out what to do with the green :/

The lining does fray a bit, so gotta overlock that seam allowance!

Odds and ends

Tying up some loose ends here in San Francisco!  Big moves and changes loom on the horizon, so here are some fun little frivolities in the mean time!

Oldies but goodies from my elementary school days -- gotta get those fresh ReeAirNik's of course!

Victor Copeland's Sacramento Firebirds' Home uniform set.  Luckily there's been some progression in my renders since I was 10 years old.  ...and yup, included IS a design for the latest in crotch cup technology :D

DeStijl Hoody in a blue colorway.  Trying to clear out the rolls of random fabric that have accumulated @ 440.  Included here are a poly mesh self, ripstop pocketing, stretch mesh rib and micro mesh liner.  Made in the U! S! A!

...and a couple East Asian prints for good measure!  The naughty Japanese schoolgirls are yelling out "Slackers!  Rude & Reckless!" while the Thai translates to "Immeasurable is this heart of Man."

Barber Shop

Filling up my racks at the store with some new shirt designs.  Super soft black knit jersey self, with an equally soft striped knit contrast.  Trying to keep production costs down, so playing with color blocking.  Happy with the results!

Production Stijl

Finished the first production run of hoodies!  Went with 3 options for the trim: reflective tape, powder blue, and canary yellow.  Let's see how they do!

Sehr technisch

Part of production is getting tech-packs set up.  They help illuminate all the mysteries hidden in the garment flats -- answering questions like, "Exactly how long IS the center front?" and "Where should be be placing all these awesome textile prints?!"  Welp, here's a little breakdown:

Important to begin at the beginning!  This is the basic garment flat.

And that's that.  Obviously a couple more pages involved, but jeeze louise, can't be giving out all the secrets!

De Stijlin'

Continuing the process of developing concept flats into product, I recently finished my first sample of the De Stijl hoody.  Using the overlay/yoke pocket detail from my Gainax shirt as a starting point, the hoody also features kangaroo patch pockets, a 4 piece lined hood, and some thumb-holes in the cuffs to keep your hands all toasty!

Thanks to new 440 Designer Jarred Garza for the teal fabric -- it's double-faced with a light batting core, so it should keep the wearer nice and cozy!  Wasn't too tricky to sew either, hooray!

Overlay pocket detail.  Both chest overlay pockets are continued from the back yoke -- one sewn on top of the front piece, and the other sewn underneath to create a "lining pocket".

Cuff detail with bar-tac reinforced thumb opening.  This sample is naturally a medium, but Jarred made a request for another graded up to "burrito size."  Gotta get on that!

In the middle of refurbishing my Senior Collection portfolio.  Updating both the flats and croquis -- trying to provide some more detail and information to the garments.  Here are the first couple looks:
