De Stijlin'

Continuing the process of developing concept flats into product, I recently finished my first sample of the De Stijl hoody.  Using the overlay/yoke pocket detail from my Gainax shirt as a starting point, the hoody also features kangaroo patch pockets, a 4 piece lined hood, and some thumb-holes in the cuffs to keep your hands all toasty!

Technical flats and original color blocking options.

Patterns finished.  Time to "Cut. it. out."

Thanks to new 440 Designer Jarred Garza for the teal fabric -- it's double-faced with a light batting core, so it should keep the wearer nice and cozy!  Wasn't too tricky to sew either, hooray!

Finished sample!  Lookin' like it should :)

Overlay pocket detail.  Both chest overlay pockets are continued from the back yoke -- one sewn on top of the front piece, and the other sewn underneath to create a "lining pocket".

View of interior "lining" overlay pocket.  Openings have been reinforced with bar-tacs.

Back view.

Cuff detail with bar-tac reinforced thumb opening.  This sample is naturally a medium, but Jarred made a request for another graded up to "burrito size."  Gotta get on that!
