poor old prometheus

wrapped in and around all the other fascinating tangents of the prometheus mythos, i find the titan's gift of fire to be most interesting. here is, in essence, technology (the gift of the gods and the spark of civilization) provided to mortals with little instruction before the vengeance of zeus is executed, and the hapless titan becomes the perpetual victim of vulture claw. how are mortals meant to interpret this? an inherently dangerous gift, which incurs horrendous torture for use (or perhaps just its theft?), yet contains the means for the advancement of mortal society. most curious.
